For 15 years I have been a Sport Scientist and High Performance Consultant for NZ's Olympic athletes and as such I feel I am well qualified to comment on the abilities of, and services provided by Roland Jeffery and his team of practitioners. I first sought treatment from Roland in 2003 having been referred to him by the coach of the All Whites. Since that first treatment I have been very impressed by the extent of his clinical skills, the professional approach he takes and the meticulous attention to detail he has applied to my injury management. When Roland has been unavailable my care has been passed on to other well-qualified members of his staff and I have been very pleasantly surprised by the seamless transfer of information and treatment plan. I would consider Roland one of the foremost sports physiotherapists in the country and needless to say I continue to use the clinic as my primary source of injury care and have referred a large number of my friends and colleagues.

Being selected for the first time in an NZ side at the age of 35 is a double-edged sword. Fabulous because, 21 years of hard work has finally paid off, difficult because, you know you'll probably only get one shot so it has to be your best. I needed to be as fit, fast and strong as possible in order to compete.

With this in mind, injuring my calf 3 months out from the World Cup - I truly thought it was all over. Hoping all was not lost I booked in to see Catherine who gave me a small window of hope that included 3 months of 3 physio sessions a week in addition to rehab and strength training and against the odds in June 2011, I competed in my first World Cup.

Catherine's patience, treatment and guidance saw me make it into the playing team, through the five day tournament and out on the wing to receive the pass and score in the dying moments of the World Cup Final, sealing the gold medal for NZ. I can't thank her enough!

"Whenever I get a knock I have full confidence that Andrew can quickly and accurately diagnose what the injury is and provide me with the expertise to ensure I’m back on the field as soon as possible.

On top of this, Andrew makes sure I remain in control of the injury by keeping tabs on me weeks after the treatment has finished. Andrew’s knowledge of the body and sports in general means he has proved vital for me and Auckland City FC in preventing injuries within a vigorous training regime.

All this aside Andrew is always happy to see you and makes sure you are looked after properly and provided with the treatment needed to get you back to 100%."

In April this year I took a tumble on the court – ignored the symptoms, until the discomfort became too much. Martyn assessed me, sent me for x-rays immediately, then to a specialist as I had damaged my discs and needed advice and correct management.

Thankfully Martyn insisted I manage this injury carefully, his early intervention, advice and ongoing input means I am well on the way to recovery and avoided surgery. I am grateful to Martyn and am hoping to take the court soon, and not look back!!
